Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need detox?

- Detox is a specialised field and requires medical supervision. We will help you to determine if detox is appropriate. We ask that all clients are at least 72 hours clean from alcohol or illegal drugs before admittance to Marbella Rehab.  This can be done as a home detox with your own doctor or our qualified English speaking Doctor can help arrange for you to be detoxed in a nearby facility before admission to The Marbella Rehab Centre.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the treatment last for?

- Treatment usually lasts for a minimum of four weeks. However it is recommended to stay in treatment for a six week period.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Marbella Rehab?

- We can arrange flights for you should you be coming from abroad or if you have made your own travel arrangements, we can arrange for collection from the airport.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be clean from drugs and/or alcohol for admission?

We require all clients are at least 72 hours clean from alcohol or illegal drugs before admittance to Marbella Rehab.  We are a therapy centre not a medical facility.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Are couples allowed in together?

- We have found from experience that it is better if partners and close friends are not treated at the same time at Marbella Rehab.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be refused treatment?

- We try to ensure that our treatment suits your needs. Any decision not to offer you admission would be as a result of a thorough evaluation of your case by our team. An explanation of how our decision was reached will be explained to you.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Do you treat both alcohol and drug problems together?

- Yes

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any house rules?

- It would be impossible to run Marbella Rehab without some clear guidelines, boundaries and even rules.

We have a number of expectations about the way people behave which we think are reasonable and justifiable. These are as follows:

You may be discharged from Marbella Rehab if:
  • You use or supply alcohol or drugs on or off of the premises. Except as prescribed by the medical staff to be taken at specific times.
  • You get involved in any sexual relationships of any kind.
  • You use violence or threats of violence.
  • You participate in any form of gambling.
  • You smoke in any non-smoking area of the house. There are designated areas for smoking.
  • You destroy or damage any property through an act of aggression.
  • If you know or suspect that any of these rules have been broken you must inform the Treatment Team immediately. You may be discharged if you hold on to this information overnight. For your safety we need to know straight away.
The above exists for your health and safety and the smooth running of the centre.

Bad behaviour sometimes indicates that a person has no real commitment to his/her own recovery and it is usually best for them to leave as this can be disruptive and detrimental to other people's recovery. We will do our best to refer them elsewhere if that is their wish.

If we need to discharge someone due to any of the above no refunds will be given.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Are my details kept in confidentiality?

- At Marbella Rehab your personal details will only be available to staff within the centre who need to know them to be able to help you. We will always obtain your written, signed consent before passing information on to anyone else.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

What is group therapy?

- Therapy groups are kept to a maximum of twelve people. People will be at all stages of their treatment, some just starting and others nearing the end of it. During therapy sessions we try to help groups develop a level of trust this allows people to speak truthfully and honestly about their situation, keeping calm and allowing others to listen and relate. Disruptive behaviour by aggression or by talking over others is discouraged.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

What is the treatment like?

- A daily routine is in order with various therapeutic duties and group therapy as well as individual therapy sessions. These activities are in place to help you develop a routine which has been found to be most beneficial and helpful to recovery.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

How will the staff treat me?

- The staff will treat you with respect and care at all times. This is a non-clinical centre where you will find a dedicated, hard working and skilled team who are responsible, warm hearted and good humoured professionals who believe in what they are doing. Many of the staff are recovered people themselves, so have a full understanding and first hand experience.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Will the treatment work?

- That is down to you. So long as you want it badly enough and give your full cooperation and trust to the centre and the program of recovery there is no reason why treatment shouldn’t work for you.

Study reports shows that your chances increase if you complete treatment.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have my own personal counsellor?

- You will be assigned a counsellor who is also a case manager.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to involve my family?

- Your family or anyone else in your life will only be involved if you want them to be. Each and every case is different and in most cases (not all) this can be extremely helpful to you, your recovery and also to them.

It will be more helpful to you if your family understands your illness. They may also be suffering in their own way and need help for themselves which we can offer in our family counselling sessions. Involving the family tends to improve the chances of good outcomes for most people.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to let you know my state of health?

- Yes you do need to reveal the state of your health this makes it easier for us to understand and help someone when we know all the details.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

What is the accommodation like?

- All bedrooms are shared. People sometimes worry about this as they are not used to it but almost everyone copes with it very well. There is a therapeutic benefit to sharing in that it helps to prevent the unhealthy isolation that so many chemically dependent people suffer from.

There are places to go and be alone quietly but generally we encourage you to be with others. Other than for sleeping people do not spend any time in their bedrooms.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

Am I allowed visitors?

- All visitors will be only allowed with your full consent. Visiting is arranged by appointment only as it interferes with the routine of the centre. Most visiting occurs on Sundays.

Visitors will not be allowed on the premises if they are believed to be under the influence of drink or drugs. They will also be refused entry to the centre I they attempt to bring drink or drugs onto the premises. Patients have a duty to remind their visitors of this.

Back to the Frequently Asked Questions

- Marbella Rehab is open to people of all faiths and to those who have no religious faith. Our program is based on a spiritual concept not a religious one.
